Prayer Times in Cape Town

Today in Cape Town (Sunday, 8 November 2026, 28 Jumada al-Ula 1448 AH), Fajr is at 04:06, sunrise at 05:40, Dhuhr at 12:31, Asr at 16:14, Maghrib at 19:21 and Isha at 20:49 local time (UTC+2).

The times are calculated for -33.9249°, 18.4241° with the Muslim World League (Fajr 18°, Isha 17°) method, the convention most widely used in South Africa, and the Standard (Shafi'i, Maliki, Hanbali) rule for Asr. Your local mosque may add a few minutes of precaution or use a different method, so its timetable takes precedence.

The qibla from Cape Town is 23° from true north (NNE), on the great-circle route to the Ka'bah 6,558 km away. Today at 12:00 the sun stands exactly in the direction of the qibla, so shadows point directly away from it, an easy way to check the direction without a compass.

On the December solstice, the longest day of the year in Cape Town, Fajr is at 03:47, Maghrib at 19:57 and Isha at 21:35; the time from Fajr to Maghrib, the length of a fast, is 16 h 10 min. On the June solstice, Fajr is at 06:22 and Maghrib at 17:45, a fast of only 11 h 23 min.

Ramadan moves about 11 days earlier every year, so over a 33-year cycle the fasting day in Cape Town ranges between these two lengths. See the Ramadan 2027 timetable for Cape Town for suhoor and iftar times.
