About HijriTime
HijriTime is an independent website for the Islamic (Hijri) calendar. It shows today's Hijri date first, together with its Gregorian equivalent, and brings the tools Muslims use every day into one place: a date converter, the Hijri calendar for any year, Islamic holidays, Ramadan timetables and prayer times for 203 cities in 76 countries.
Independence: HijriTime is not a government or religious body and is not affiliated with any official authority. For the start of Ramadan, the Eids and other dates that depend on moon sighting, follow the announcement of the authority or mosque you follow.
Who Makes HijriTime?
HijriTime is built and maintained by Fatah Nasrat. The calendar conversions, the event database and the prayer time calculations are written for this site rather than pulled from a third-party service, and the articles on the blog are written and kept up to date by the same team.

How We Calculate
Hijri dates follow the Umm al-Qura calendar of Saudi Arabia for 1356–1500 AH (1937–2077 CE), the most widely used calculated Hijri calendar; outside that range the arithmetical Islamic calendar is used.
Conversions between the Hijri and Gregorian calendars go through the Julian Day Number, the standard day count used by astronomers, which avoids rounding errors between calendars.
Prayer times are computed astronomically from each city's coordinates with the method used in that country (Umm al-Qura, Muslim World League, Egyptian, Karachi, ISNA, Moonsighting Committee, MUIS/JAKIM, Tehran and others) and the local Asr school. The site's reference clock is Makkah time (UTC+3); prayer times are shown in each city's local time.
Accuracy and Corrections
- Hijri dates can differ by one day. Countries that start each month with an actual sighting of the crescent may be a day behind the calculated Umm al-Qura calendar.
- Future Islamic holidays are expected dates. They are confirmed only when the crescent is sighted or the authorities announce them.
- Prayer times are for the city centre. They do not account for elevation or the local horizon, and mosques may add minutes of precaution.
If you find a mistake, please let us know. We verify reports and correct them, and update the page when the substance changes.
