The Day of Arafah, 9 Dhu al-Hijjah, is the central day of Hajj: pilgrims stand on the plain of Arafat from noon until sunset. The Prophet ๏ทบ said that fasting this day expiates the sins of the previous year and the coming year (Sahih Muslim).
