Safar صفر
"Empty, void"
Safar 1449 AH begins on Monday, 5 July 2027 and ends on Monday, 2 August 2027 according to the Umm al-Qura calendar.
About Safar
Safar is usually explained as "empty": after the sacred month of Muharram, Arab tribes left their homes to travel, trade or go to war, so houses stood empty.
Before Islam, some Arabs considered Safar an unlucky month. The Prophet ﷺ rejected this belief, saying "there is no Safar" among other superstitions (Sahih al-Bukhari), so Safar is an ordinary month with no special acts of worship and no reason to avoid weddings, travel or business.
